ChatGPT Alternative
Honest, vendor-neutral guidance on picking an AI assistant that fits how you actually work.

“What should I use instead of ChatGPT?” is usually the wrong first question. The right one is: what are you actually trying to do? Drafting emails, debugging a codebase, summarizing research, running a model on your own hardware — each of those points to a different answer, and the honest answer is sometimes “ChatGPT is fine, keep it.”
This site exists for the moments when it isn’t. We write editorial, vendor-neutral comparisons of the alternatives: hosted assistants like Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity; open-weight model families like Llama and Mistral; and the growing world of local and self-hosted setups. No affiliate links, no sponsored rankings, no breathless “ChatGPT killer” headlines.
How we compare
- Question-first. Every article starts from a real decision — “which one for coding?”, “what’s genuinely free?” — not from a product’s feature list.
- Honest about trade-offs. Every tool here is good at something and mediocre at something else. We say which is which.
- Hedged where it’s fast-moving. Model versions, prices, and free-tier limits change constantly, so we date our claims (“as of mid-2026”) and focus on the durable differences.
- Original analysis only. Our own testing and reasoning, in our own words — never a repackaged press release or README.
